Year 6 Sydney Canberra Tour

We were so pleased to be able to run the Year 6 Sydney Canberra Tour after a four year hiatus. Eleven staff and 73 students enjoyed a week of fun, learning and adventure and the students represented LJBC so well. We had many presenters (and even security guards) comment on how well the students behaved, engaged and held themselves. Our staff were so proud of them.
Over the week, some of the places we visited were Taronga Zoo, The Rocks, the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, Museum of Australian Democracy, High Court and Corin Forest for snow play.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $510 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. We are grateful to the Australian Government for their generosity.
We’re already looking forward to 2024.
