Brian Falkner: Author in Residence 2023

In Week 7 Brian visited the College to share his experiences as an author of 23 titles. Brian wanted to be an author ever since he was a child. It only took him thirty years to realise that dream. Along the way he worked as a reporter, advertising copywriter, radio announcer, graphic designer, and internet developer. Now he is an internationally acclaimed writing coach, running workshops and writing camps.
During his time with us Brian defined a story as the telling of a series of unfortunate events in which bad things happen to good people. A story needs to have a setting, in which characters attempt to overcome obstacles to reach a goal. The harder the obstacle the better the story.
Book signings were held throughout the week during lunchtimes. One student won the raffle draw to have his name be used as a character in a future Brian Falkner novel.
