Drama Spotlight

Drama Performance Incursion

On Wednesday 30 August the Year 10, Year 11 and 12 Drama students participated in a performance incursion from 8:40AM to 12:30AM. During the incursion, students had the opportunity to watch the other classes perform as well as having an audience of peers for their performance assessments. The incursion began with Year 11 General performing a class production of Dag’s in the Auditorium. This show included a huge ensemble with a variety of different and unique characters. We met 'Gillian' and observed her go through the struggles and reality of high school.

Next we had the 11 ATAR/12 General performing excerpts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A modern twist on a Shakespearean classic which was a pleasure to watch. Highlights included classic fight scene and a 'play inside within a play.'

We finished with The Year 12 ATAR class performing excerpts from the play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. This script challenged the Year 12's on a physical level demanding synchronised choreography.

As part of these assessments’ students performed in a variety of roles including acting, stage management, crew, choreographer, costume, props, lighting and sound design. It was a great experience for the Year 11 and 12 Drama students to perform and the Year 10 Drama students to watch and support their peers.

Goodbye from the 2023 Drama Captain

2023 is almost over for the Year 12's, which means my reign as LJBC's Drama Captain is almost over. It has been pleasure to represent the Drama community at LJBC this year and I am confident that 2024's Drama Captain will continue to represent the school amazingly, whoever it may be.

This year has been a blast and some of my favourite moments have been; helping with the reveal of Matilda Jr to the Primary and Secondary school, helping with the College Production auditions, performing in the Senior School Production of Puffs! My last captain job is creating the 'Valedictory Play' which showcases some amazing and funny moments of the Class of 2023 which will be shown at the Valedictory Assembly early next term.

For any students wanting to continue with Drama in high school... Do it! It is such an awesome course with amazing teachers who are there to help you the entire way. Whether you love acting or just want to give it a try, it is a place for everyone and is an amazing tool to use to help build friendships, develop your communication and master your public speaking skills.

For my future Drama Captains, you got this! Make the most of your time in Year 12 and as Drama Captain because it goes by so quickly. I have to say, I am looking forward to finding out who the next Drama Captain is at the next assembly!

With this being my last article, I say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my articles this year and followed my journey through Drama whether it was by my side on stage or from the audience.

Yours Truly, LJBC's

Drama Captain of 2023.
Lights out!
