Year 11 and 12 VET Music

The Year 11 and Year 12 VET Music class were privileged to practice their ‘rockstar’ skills during a live gig at the Indian Ocean Hotel in Scarborough last Thursday night. Mr Mason Nguyen, Maths teacher here at LJBC, kindly organized for our bands to play at the Thursday ‘Plug and Play’ night through his contacts as a member of his band, Dear Sunday. The class called themselves The VETS and they embraced the occasion, soaking in the whole live performance experience.
The band had to drop off instruments in the ‘green room’ (behind the kitchen in a passageway!) where they could see the run sheet of performers for the night and just how a live gig operated. They worked with the sound engineer and stage manager to set up and get their levels right and then the band took to the stage and blew everyone away! The atmosphere was electric with smoke, lights, audience swaying (eager parents filming), and an amazing musical vibe all round. The maturity displayed by the band members was a credit to our College and one would not have known that the performers were school students.
Nina, Aliyah and Bradman were on vocals. Ben and Jayden were on drums, Matt and Nina were on bass with Mitaal dominated the keys. Jared, Ryemee, Jayden and Ben cut it up on electric guitar.
Congratulations to The VETS!
