Year 7 and 8 Applied Design
Year 7 and 8 Applied Design students this term have been completing numerous projects. The first project was themed by Aboriginal culture and art to create a Key tag using the Turbo CAD program and the Laser cutter.

The second project involved students working in pairs and creating their own catapult. The students learned about inertia, projectile motion, payload etc…and also researched the origins of various catapults before designing and creating their own. Students have developed an understanding of Turbo CAD and the use of the laser cutter to complete this activity and were then given the opportunity to test their catapults distance.
For the final project students are completing an insect design and create task. This involves developing an understanding of 3D printers, the significance insects will have on the world food shortage and developing computer skills using 123D Design. Students will be given the opportunity to 3D print their insect design.
