Cumberland Corner

Cumberland House is blessed with students gifted with unique talents and some of these were evidenced in the last fortnight.

We had an outstanding level of participation in the Inter House Cross Country Competition this year and we gained a very respectable third position. Well done to you all and congratulations to our medal winners:

1st Place Winners              Dylan Morrison, Benjamin Niles, Jordan Gloster

2nd Place Winners             Lauren Bell, Luke Morrison

3rd Place Winners             Harry Dean, Eliza Shepperd

These students went on to compete in the ACC Cross Country Carnival. Out of 350 competitors in each division, Jordan Gloster came 15th in the Under 16 Girls and Dylan Morrison came 23rd in the Under 16 Boys. This is a brilliant effort from both of them.

Cumberland students were recently treated with special performances from some of our Year 9 and Year 11 students during our House Assembly meetings. A big thankyou to Caitlin Mathews Markey, Ruby Haycraft and Venetia Edwards for sharing their musical talents with us.

Some of our students also have a gift in photography. Congratulations to Catherine Nelson for winning the Year 12 section of the LJBC Term 1 Photography Competition.

Our Student Councilors are working hard behind the scenes and treated our lower school students with a pancake breakfast. We had many enthusiastic cooks, quality control may have been a little lapse at times, however the pancakes were well received.

This year Cumberland and James Houses are joining forces to support Food Bank. We currently have a can drive and the cans are rolling into the House Centre. We will also be hosting a Market Day, Free Dress Day and a Sausage Sizzle later in the term. I encourage our Cumberland families to get on board in support of this great cause.
