Year 12 Psychology Excursion to Perth Zoo

How can you teach an orphaned orangutan how to build a nest for shelter?
How can you measure the mass of a Komodo dragon while avoiding their venomous teeth?
How can you safely give a hyena a health check?
Year 12 ATAR Psychology students visited Perth Zoo this term to learn how psychological learning theories are applied to the care and management of different Zoo animals.
Students had opportunities to apply their knowledge of theories and processes of learning, considering hypothetical zoo-based problems such as those mentioned above, as well as experiencing a live animal encounter.
It was a great day of psychology in action at Perth Zoo!
