The Purple Patch
2019 has started with a bang in Batavia! It has been an action packed few weeks, beginning with the Student Council Induction Day where the Batavia House Council enjoyed rock climbing, surfing and discussing our ideas for the year at the Aloha Surfhouse.

The Batavia House Council for 2019 is:
House Captains: Prince Tsuro and Alexandra Chua
Chaplaincy Captains: Isaak Peverall and Elisha Maliepaard
Year 11: Tristan Severn-Ellis and Macey Cameron-Stone
Year 10: Jake Battle and Annelise Eichhorn
Year 9: Ethan Battle and Isabel Gray
Year 8: Thomas Downsborough and Megan Downsborough
An election will be held to decide the Year 7 councillors on Friday 8 March.
It has been a pleasure to welcome everyone back to school, especially the Year 7 students who I recently spent a couple of days getting to know on their camp at Serpentine. They are an enthusiastic and friendly bunch and I look forward to journeying with them throughout their secondary school journey. The Swimming Carnival was another highlight with many of our students having a go and doing their best in support of Batavia. I am looking forward to seeing our students get behind the upcoming Cross Country event.
We have several new members in our House: Myles Williams is in Year 11 and AJ Jonker joins us in Year 9. Welcome to Batavia!
Batavia and Arcadia are working together again this year to support the Starlight Foundation in the work it does with seriously ill children and their families. Keep an ear out for more information on this upcoming event and look for opportunities to get involved in helping raise funds for this worthy cause.
I wish all Batavians a brilliant 2019 – lets make it your best year ever!
