Koala Foundation Fundraiser

In combined HaSS and Science units, the Year 1 students explored what happens when habitats change and some living things can no longer have their needs met. They identified changes in natural environments and investigated why these changes take place, how these features need to be cared for, and who provides this care. The children are very concerned about the plight of the koala habitat after large areas were destroyed in the recent fires. They decided to raise money to plant more trees in fire devastated areas for the koalas. The Year 2 students decided to help the Year 1s with their fundraiser.
The children brought in gold coins and had a wonderful time dressing up in cuddly clothes on the last day of the school term. Class 1.1 grew the tallest coin tree by bringing in the most coins and 2.2 raised the highest amount $169.65. Together the Year 1 and 2 students raised a whopping $411 for the koala foundation!
