Maths Olympiad Competition
Over the course of this year, 30 of our highest achieving Year 5 and 6 students in Mathematics, have been participating in the Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiad. The students completed five rounds of competition papers. Between competitions they analysed their errors, identified efficient problem solving methods and learnt new mathematics through problem solving.
In previous years, students across Australia and New Zealand competed against each other. This year however, due to Covid, the Olympiad became an intra-school competition in which each individual student’s performance was only measured against other students from within their own school. The highest achieving students from LJBC are:
First Place: Isaac 16 points
Second Place: Lucas 14 points
Third Place: Lucas 13 points
Fourth Place: Tayte 12 points
Special mention goes to Alessio who won the Working Mathematically Award for his positive approach to learning and problem solving.
Congratulations to the winners and to all the students who participated in this very challenging competition.
