Camp Zero2Hero

chaplaincy.jpg

During the October holidays, I had the privilege of attending Camp Hero which is a leadership camp run by the youth mental health charity Zero2Hero along with 39 other teenagers from all over WA at Nanga Bush Camp.

During the course of the five-day program I learnt so much about myself and how I can help those around me. It was an exciting program with everyday brining its own physical and mental challenges. I met the most wonderful people who will forever be in my network of friends and had the most incredible mentors and camp facilitators. We were also able to participate in a suicide prevention course called Safe Talk which teaches everyone how to be suicide aware.

The camp was by far one of the best experiences of my life and I would highly recommend anyone between the ages of 14 to 18 to apply for it. With mental health issues on the increase it is important for us young people to be aware of our peers experiencing challenges as it may be us in time to come. I would like to say a massive thank you to Zero2Hero for providing me with this amazing opportunity and to the individuals who lead me and allowed me to take part in this camp. You can find out more about Zero2Hero and the amazing work they do at https://www.zero2hero.com.au. I strongly encourage anybody to apply for this camp as it was an amazing experience and I think everyone would benefit from it in some way.
