Arcadia in Action
Twenty-Twenty-One, the Year of FUN!
Welcome all, 2021 is going to be a good one! There will always be challenges and changes, but on the flip side, it can lead to great opportunities!
I am sure you have heard this phrase before “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. What does it really mean? It is a proverbial phrase used to encourage optimism and a positive can-do attitude in the face of adversity or misfortune. Lemons suggest sourness or difficulty in life; making lemonade is turning them into something positive or desirable.
The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”.
Arcadia is known as the SUNSHINE HOUSE, not only because our bright yellow colour resembles the warm rays of sunshine, but it also says something about our Arcadian culture. Words like happy, friendly, great friendships, beaming light, helping hand, positive and encouraging are ones to describe us.
I have had the privilege of meeting some of the Year 7s joining Arcadia House already, but I would also like to welcome all the Year 7s and I am looking forward to meeting you soon.
Welcome also to the following new students to the Arcadia family:
Year 8: Freya, Alan, Nicholas, Jessica, Finn
Year 9: Thomas
Year 10: Holly
May your journey at LJBC exceed all your expectations and more. Remember, success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome. I would like to encouraged you to get involved, become part of the family and build unforgettable memories.
I would also like to mention and congratulate our amazing Arcadia Student Council.
We enjoyed a very positive Student Council Induction Day on Thursday 28 January at Outback Splash. Besides the exciting races and water fun, the Councillors shared many great ideas and suggestions to make Connect class and House activities lots of fun this year.
Sport Captain Blaise
House Captains Danielle and James
Year 11 Tyler and Andrew
Year 10 Hayley and Adrian
Year 9 Gabriella and Jayden
Year 8 Brook and Lee
The Year 7 students will be voting on Friday 5 March for their representatives.
Swimming Carnival
Get your bathers ready, the swimming Carnival is here! PARTICIPATION is the key, the more we participate the more points we gain for Arcadia House. Also, every point count towards the Arcadia Participation Shield, let’s see if Year 11A can hold onto the shield this year.
Charity Event
Arcadia and Batavia Houses are joining forces again with our charity event supporting the Starlight Foundation. Keep an eye out for announcements and get on board to support this fundraiser in any way you can.
My prayer for you this year is to be authentic, Michelle Obama said, and I quote:
“It's like, remember who you always were, where you came from, who your parents were, how they raised you. Because that authentic self is going to follow you all through life, so make sure that it's solid so it's something that you can hold on and be proud of for the rest of your life”.
Arcadia House, let’s make 2021 an unforgettable year!
“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding”. Proverbs 3:13
God Bless
