Drama News
Laughing Stock written by Bradley Hayward tells the story of Michelle, who is struggling to complete a homework assessment. She stands alone on stage before an impatient audience, trying desperately to dramatize her lacklustre existence. With the help of a madcap playwright, her life story is suddenly populated with exaggerated stock characters of every sort. One by one, the humdrum people in her life are replaced by pirates and princes, gunslingers and sidekicks, clowns and rappers. There's even a Greek Chorus along for the ride.
During Term 4 last year, students in Years 9-11 auditioned to be cast in the 2021 Senior School Production. It was so encouraging to see so many of our talented students audition, putting into action the skills they had been learning in Drama classes. This made choosing our cast of only 18 very difficult indeed! Over the summer holidays, the cast have been working hard to learn their lines, and I am excited to start working with them when rehearsals start in Week 2. Laughing Stock will run for three nights in Week 9 in the College Auditorium.
