Sport Captains 2021
Sports Captain – Blaise
I was first introduced to the sports community in Year 1, with Little Athletics Joondalup. My favourite events included; 100 m, Hurdles, Javelin, Shot Put and 200m. I continued athletics for 3 years before joining the Jets mixed Footy team.
In 2012 I also made the transition to horse riding as my family had moved to a property. I spent the next 10 years competing in numerous state events such as Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and Mounted Games. The Royal show mounted games demonstrations were highlights of my career, riding on the show grounds competing in front of thousands. Throughout these years I also participated in many school sports events: cricket in primary school, touch rugby primary to high school, soccer and AFL. I had the opportunity of holding the position of Sports Delegate in Year 6, working alongside the Primary Sports Department and then again Sports Delegate in Year 9 helping the Sports Captains and High school Sport Department.
I no longer competitively ride horses as I’ve now redirected my time to pursue another passion, AFL. November 2020 was the start of my commitment to the West Perth Football club, training extremely hard with the Reserves team, I’ve dedicated hours in the gym and on the training grounds preparing and improving my fitness, skills and strengths so that I can support the team to my best of my ability.
I will spend the rest of the year working alongside Sean and the College Sports Department to ensure students at Lake Joondalup have the most opportunities to enjoy their sporting career here at the High School and to encourage participation and sportsmanship in all areas of sport; School Carnivals, Interschools, CAS and lunch time competitions.
Sports Captain – Sean
My Name is Sean, and I am LJBC’s 2021 Sports captain. I was first introduced to sport at the age of 5, playing for Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football Club. I have continued playing rugby for 13 years and I have never looked back.
During those 13 years I have competed in 3 regional competitions and been on 3 state tours. In U/15s I went to NSW to compete in the Junior Gold Cup coming 3rd overall in the 2 pools combined. In U/16s I flew to Canberra to play in the Junior nationals Competitions placing 6th overall and then in that same year I flew to Maroochydore in QLD to partake in the U/17s state 7s competition placing 7th. As well as being selected for the Rugby WA developing player program for the past 3 years the highlight of my young sporting career is undergoing these state tours and being allowed the opportunity to test myself against the best of my age group.
Throughout my time at LJBC I have been able to participate in the Rugby program in addition to representing the College in Cross Country in Year 8, ACC Swimming in Year 9 and Athletics from Year 7 to 11. I have also been awarded Champion Boy at LJBC from Year 8-11. I’ve also had the pleasure of working alongside the Sports Department and sports captains of 2018 as a Year 9 delegate.
As one of your Sports Captains I would like, with the help of Blaise and the Sports Department, to increase enjoyment and participations in School Carnivals, Inter Schools, CAS and lunch time competitions across all years.
