Year 11 and 12 Media Excursions

On Friday 5 March, the Year 11 General Media Production and Analysis class went on excursion to Whiteman Park. This was an opportunity for the students to film ‘on location.’ Students worked in groups to develop ideas for new films in famous franchises and created trailers for these upcoming features. They have devised ideas for new films in The Maze Runner, High School Musical, Harry Potter and Friday the Thirteenth franchises, with the park’s variety of areas allowing our budding filmmakers to select settings that suited their narratives.

On Wednesday 10 March, the Year 11 and 12 ATAR Media Production and Analysis students enjoyed an evening at the outdoor cinema when they attended the 2020 Media Perspectives at Community Cinemas Burswood. The event showcased the top Year 12 copyright-free audio-visual Media productions from 2017.  MPA students have to submit a ‘Media Art’ or ‘Power and Persuasion’ production task as part of their WACE examination and the vast majority of students choose to make a five minute film. The students enjoyed the wide variety of short films, which ranged from a documentary to war film to thought provoking films with experimental techniques. The Year 12 MPA students are currently working on creating their own productions and the Year 11 students are making music videos which pay homage to film movements and styles.
