WA Museum and Art Gallery of WA visit
On Wednesday 3 March the Year 10 Visual Arts students and Specialist Visual Art Club visited the Boola Bardip WA Museum and Art Gallery of WA. During our visit, we learnt about prominent West Australians, visited the reflections and connections galleries and engaged with the interactive displays. One of the highlights for the students was seeing the wildlife gallery and blue whale skeleton. After lunch we went to the Art Gallery of WA and were delighted to see the Tee Ken Ng and Tim Minchin installation of zoetropes that bring Tim Minchin’s song ‘Leaving LA’ to life. The students also had a tour learning about many indigenous artworks, both traditional and contemporary.

Mural workshop
On 9 March, the Year 11 ATAR and General Visual Arts students worked with Blank Walls artist, Brendan, to sketch up and paint their designs onto the wall outside Student Services. The theme for the mural was flora and fauna native to the Joondalup area. Keep a look out during the term as we continue to work on this exciting project!

Specialist Visual Art Club
During the term, students in Visual Art Club have been making some imaginative drawings and design ideas for the upcoming Shaun Tan competition held by the City of Subiaco. We have been experimenting with different drawing techniques, watercolour and gouache mediums.
