Have Sum Fun Mathematics Competition 2021
The Have Sum Fun Competition is an exciting mathematics initiative that uses a quiz-night format. Teams of six students race against the clock to solve four intense rounds of eight challenging problems. Teams can only have a maximum of three students of the higher year level; e.g. in the Year 7 to 8 competition only three Year 8s are allowed in the team.
Once again, a group of very talented students from years 7 to 12 took part in the annual Have Sum Fun Mathematics Competition. The competitions were held on a Friday evening over 2 weekends at Hale College, Duncraig Senior High School and at Churchlands Senior High School.
17 of our top mathematics students competed against a large number of exceptionally strong schools and all our teams did remarkably well and are to be congratulated for their time and effort.
The Year 7 and 8 team supervised by Mr Lynch at Churchlands High School was made up of Kieran, Tayte and Oskar from Year 7 and Sean, Victoria and Charis from Year 8.
The Year 9 and 10 team was supervised by Mrs van Leen at Duncraig Senior High School. The students participating in this event were Alex, Jess and Marni from Year 9 and from Year 10, Nicole, Gabrielle and Daniel.
The senior team consisted of Kyle, Joshua, Jacques, Daniel, Jake and Dylan. Daniel (Year 10) stepped in at the last minute to help out the Year 11 and 12 team.
I would like to thank all the team members for giving up their Friday night as well as Mrs Butcher, Mrs van Leen, Mr Lynch and Mr Nguyen who gave up their time to train and supervise these students.
