Starlight Day

The Starlight Children’s Foundation aims to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Batavia and Arcadia Houses have again been working together to support this worthy cause, raising funds through a lunchtime bake sale at the end of last term and a Starlight Day event this term.
On Starlight Day, students could make a donation to go uniform free, enter a jellybean jar guessing competition and enjoy a sausage sizzle. 'Dunk the teacher’ raffle tickets could also be purchased for a chance to throw a bucket of water on one of a variety of ‘willing’ staff! There was a real carnival atmosphere in the quadrangle during the event supported by the senior music students providing live music, Mr Harris acting as MC on the microphone and a huge and enthusiastic crowd gathering to enjoy the ceremonial soaking of a dozen different teachers (I can personally confirm the water was very cold!).
Thank you to the many students who got involved in supporting, planning, promoting and running the event, particularly the Batavia and Arcadia House Councils. The aim was to raise over $2000 and we are very pleased to announce that a total of $2209 was raised for the Starlight Children’s Foundation – well done everyone!
