Year 3.1 - WA Police Incursion

The Year 3.1 students participated in an incursion today and met a constable from WA Police. Constable Kruger taught the students about his role in keeping the community safe and showed the students his police truck.
We have been learning about devices in Digital Technologies and Constable Kruger was able to show the students the devices that he uses to do his job effectively. It was interesting to note that the devices that police officers use are different to the devices that would be used in other jobs such as those found in a supermarket or at school.
The students asked many questions to clarify their understanding and had a lot of fun trying on police hats and holding a police badge.
The most important thing that Constable Kruger taught the students was that out of all the equipment and devices police officers carry, their mouth is the most important as they have to use great communication skills to be able to help people. They use their verbal skills more than any other piece of equipment they carry.
Seeing the inside of the police truck and listening to the siren was definitely the highlight of the morning for the students.
We are all grateful for the important job that our WA police officers do in our community, and we thank Constable Kruger for coming in today.
