James Journal
And just like that, Semester 1 has flown by! We can however, look back with gratitude on the last few months as we were able to return back to ‘normal’ and enjoy a semester largely unaffected by the impact of COVID. How blessed are we! Our thoughts and prayers remain with our James families who have been unable to visit their loved ones either interstate or overseas, and are concerned for their health and wellbeing.
Our James students excelled in various areas this term and I wish to congratulate the following students on their achievements: Rylee (Year 12) and Samuel (Year 7) for their participation at the Australian Gymnastics Championships on the Gold Coast; Tayla (Year 11), Matthew (Year 8) and Izabella (Year 11), who represented LJBC at the State Cross Country Championships and Levi (Year 7) who was selected for the U/12 Football State Team. Fantastic achievements and a testimony of all the hard work, perseverance and sacrifice demonstrated by these students!
College Half Colours were also awarded to Emma (Cultural), Carrie (Service) and Jared (Service) and College Full Colours to Grace (Culture and Curriculum), Hukambir (Curriculum), Rylee (Cultural) and Tayla (Sport and Service) this semester. Well done to these students on this amazing recognition of all their hard work!
I also wish to extend another warm welcome to the following students who joined the James House family this term: Isaac (Year 10), Aimee (Year 10) and Cedric (Year 7). It has been lovely getting to know you and I look forward to sharing many memories in the years ahead.
I wish to inform you that I will be away on Long Service Leave during Term 3. Mrs Kendal Sallery will fill in for me during this time. If you have any concerns regarding your child next term, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Sallery or Mrs Helen Del Frate, Dean of Students.
I wish the Year 12 James students the best of luck with their final term. Continue to work hard but also take a moment to enjoy these final weeks – you have worked hard for it and will never get it back. I look forward to celebrating with you at our Valedictory Dinner and Graduation.
Wishing you all a well-deserved holiday.
Best wishes
Anmar van der Westhuizen
