Rugby Sevens Night Carnival

On Friday 18 June, LJBC kicked off the 2021 Northern Schools Rugby Conference (NSRC) with the annual pre-season Rugby Sevens Night carnival.

With around 250-300 people attending, the event was an amazing success, showcasing youth Rugby talent from across the northern schools' Rugby community. Our LJBC boys’ teams were competitive though out the night with some courageous victories and some narrow defeats.

LJBC’s first-ever Girls Sevens team exceeded all expectations. The team were outstanding with a clean sweep of the competition. Our girls were brave and resilient in their on-field performances, gaining a great deal of confidence leading into the Term 3 ‘Home and Away’ competition.

We would like to thank our Community Rugby affiliates, Joondalup Brothers and Rugby WA, for their unwavering support of the LJBC Rugby Union Program. A huge thank you to the following Brothers coaches and Premier Grade players for their contribution to our Rugby teams; Mr Lachy Wood - U7 Brothers coach, Connor McDougall - Brothers U21 Colts coach and ex LJBC student and ex-students Taane-Nui Phillips and George Peters - Brothers Premier Grade players. We would also like to thank Mr Dane Lazarus, Mr Damian Wainohu and the other Rugby WA community development officers for their contributions on the night and throughout the semester.

Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the LJBC staff for their support, throughout the term and on the night. Thank you to all staff who braved the cold to attend the event and a special thank you to our College Principal Mr Sonneman-Smith, who watched every LJBC team warm up and play. His overwhelming support of LJBC Rugby is greatly appreciated.
