Student Council Induction Day

On Friday 28 January, the Year 8 to 12 House Councillors and Captains gathered for the 2022 House Council Induction Day. Guest speaker Pastor Phil Ingham, explained to us how we all have “true, perceived and presented selves.” The people who we are, who we think we are and who others think we are, respectively. By having these vastly separated, we are not presenting ourselves completely as leaders, yet by merging these components of our identity we are able to present a more genuine character, one who is more inspiring and honest as a leader.
Robbie from ClueDunnit ran a teambuilding murder mystery with the Student Councillors in their House groups. This problem-solving game allowed us to build our connections with each other as we tried to figure out “whodunnit”. It was a very close race with not one House team finding the true culprit. In the end, Batavia’s mix of intelligence gathering and dot-connecting led to them being crowned the winners.
Finally, the whole Student Council had the opportunity to brainstorm their ideas for the year and how we might do our best to improve the College environment. It was excellent to see everyone get involved. The day left everyone feeling excited that there are so many eager students who are looking to get involved and serve the College community this year.
