James Journal

I wish to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students to James House, with a special warm welcome to all Year 7 students! We also have a few new students joining our James family and I want to extend a very warm welcome to Shanique (Year 8), Leanke (Year 8), Jayden (Year 8), Atef (Year 9) and Callum (Year 10). I hope that you enjoy your journey at LJBC and reach your potential.

The beginning of a new year is always exciting and filled with the promise of a fresh start and an opportunity to reach our set goals. We started the year with the Year 12 Ball with our James students looking so beautiful and ‘grown-up’. Our James House Council also enjoyed collegiality and team-building activities with our Student Council Induction Day. I look forward to working with them this year and sharing many new initiatives. It is my privilege to introduce the James 2022 Student Council, under the enthusiastic and positive leadership of our House Captains:

House Captains: Joshua & Tayla

Year 11: Grant & Carrie

Year 10: Sanjeev & Michelle

Year 9: Cooper & Lauren

Year 8: Dean & Abigail

Congratulations also to Alan on his election as Music Captain and Izabella on her election as Sports Captain. The Year 7 Student Council elections will take place later this term and I encourage all Year 7’s who are interested in leadership positions, to consider applying for the Student Council.

With a fresh start to the year, I am looking forward seeing all the James students participate in the academic, sporting and cultural programmes for 2022. There are many wonderful opportunities to get involved with and I encourage each student to get connected to life at the College, adopting a ‘give-it-a-go’ attitude. Parents, please encourage your children to participate in these programmes as this provides them with valuable life skills such as resilience, accountability, time management, respect and communication.

As a Head of House, my role is to oversee the pastoral care of all Secondary James students, supporting them in their adolescent journey while reaching their full potential. All relationships at LJBC are based on mutual respect, open communication and honesty. I look forward to working with families to support our students and guide them on their individual journeys.

May 2022 be a great and blessed year for James House and let’s continue to look at life through a lens of love and solidarity! Let us make this year a year of finding fulfillment, of joy, peace and purpose.
