The Purple Patch

Welcome back to all Batavians and their families, it has been so great seeing you back on campus, meeting our new Year 7s and hearing about what many of you have been up to in your holidays. We have some new Batavians in the older years too; welcome to Mufaro and Jocelyn in Year 11, Carolina in Year 10, Teddy in Year 9 and Sam and Tafara in Year 8.
It has already been an action packed start to the term, especially for our Year 12s who recently enjoyed a lovely evening together at the College Ball and now are getting stuck into their final year of studies. The Student Council had their annual induction day prior to the start of classes and had sessions that promoted leadership and teamwork skills, including a murder mystery activity which I am proud to say the Batavian Council won! Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for 2022!
The Batavia House Council for 2022 is:
House Captains: Ethan and Isabel
Chaplaincy Captain: Dylan
Sport Captain: Chanel
Year 11: Thomas and Olivia
Year 10: Freddy and Jordan
Year 9: Sonny and Kaitlyn
Year 8: Zaiah and Keira
An election will be held to decide the Year 7 councillors later in the term.
I want to encourage all Batavian students to make an extra effort to get involved in all the wonderful events and opportunities coming up later in the year. I am looking forward to getting to know our Year 7 students better when we go on camp in Week 3. We also have the Inter House Swimming Carnival in Week 6 and after taking out the Junior shield last year and just falling short of the overall victory, I firmly believe that this year Batavia can make it to the top of the podium. Students, whatever your area of interest or expertise is, put yourself out there, have a go and try something new – there are so many great extra-curricular opportunities that will make your school experience so much more worthwhile if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone.
May you all have a fantastic 2022, I look forward to all that we will learn and achieve together and pray that the Lord will bless your endeavours throughout.
Cast all your anxiety on Him [the Lord] because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
