Windsor Words

It is with great pleasure I return to the Windsor House after acting in the Head of Mathematics role last year. Mr Potts did a wonderful job and it is great to be able to work with him as he now leads Cumberland, and to work alongside the other Heads of House again this year.

Welcome to you all, I look forward to connecting with our new families and reacquainting with the existing families. We have two new Year 10 students joining us this year, Bao and Christopher. I am also eager to get to know the incoming Year 7 Windsor students, and look forward to the Year 7 Camp where we really get to know them better.

One blessing we’ve had this year was being able to celebrate the Year 12 Ball at the Hillary’s Yacht Club. It was great to get together and see everyone having a good time, especially Isaac, who took out best male dancer on the evening!

All students have talents and are unique, so please let me know if your child has an achievement so that we can share the good news. I would like to give special mention to one of our Year 8 students, Oliver. Oliver competed in the State Pickleball Championships for 19+ year-olds, and despite his age won a gold medal in the men’s singles and silver in the men’s doubles!

We are also fortunate to have both the Head Boy and Head Girl in Windsor this year, and Joshua and Taya are doing an amazing job with the Student Council so far. On the Student Council Leadership Day, students got dressed up as spies and villains and worked together on activities, while developing their vision for Windsor and had fun in the process.

The Windsor Council whom I look forward to working with are:

House Captains: Evan & Tyla

Year 11: Riley & Gabrielle

Year 10: Nicholas & Sian

Year 9: Adi & Amelia

Year 8: Mason & Makayla

The beginning of a new year is great as it gives us a fresh start and the opportunity to reflect and set new goals. 2022 will certainly provide challenges, and COVID will certainly be one of these. My encouragement is to reflect on the teachings of Jesus in Luke 6:46 – 49, where he talks of the two builders. One builds on strong foundations, and one does not. When the storms and floods eventually come, the house on the firm foundations stands firm, but the other comes crashing down. Let us build our lives on strong foundations including our values, loved ones, choices and our faith so we can be strong through the storms of life.

Blessings to you all

Mr Lyndon Rice

Head of Windsor House
