Swimming
Year 12 student Tom recently competed in the Swimming WA State Age Championships. Despite an interrupted year of training due to injury and illness he had a fantastic championships and won Gold Medals in the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly. Tom also achieved silver medals in 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly which has allowed him to qualify for the Age Championships in April in all 6 events.
For the three gold medal events, Tom also achieved Open National times to qualify for the Commonwealth trials to be held in Adelaide in 2022. This will see him compete against the country's best.
Athletics
Several talented athletes competed in the Athletics Age Championships over the weekend and achieved the following outstanding results:
Luke Year 10 – Silver medal in 1500m and 4th in 800m
Ben Year 9 – Silver medal in 800m and 3rd in 1500m
Kiera Year 8 – Silver medal in 800m and 1500m
Nicola Year 8 – Bronze medal in 1500 and 5th in 800
Kaitlin Year 11 - Gold in the Long Jump, Bronze in the 100m Hurdles, and 5th in the 100m, missing a bronze by 0.15 seconds
Oliver Year 11 – Gold medal in Javelin
Izzy Year 12 – Bronze medal in Discus
