Sporting Successes

We are lucky to have some outstanding athletes at LJBC, who are achieving success in a range of different sports.

Below are some of our students’ achievements for 2022.

Year 12’s

Tené was selected to Represent Australia in the U22 Ladies Australian Cricket Team at the World Cup being held in Melbourne 8 – 15 October 2022. She also played for the WA U18 Girls team in the Jnr Championship 2 – 10 July.

For her efforts Tené was ranked 7th overall in the U18 Girls individual performance ranking, and was selected in the U18 Girls All Star Team.

Dylan participated in a 3-day intensive Karate training camp in July prior to attending the Australia Karate Federation National Championships in Queensland.

Dylan is currently ranked 15th in the World (World Karate Federation) after the Oceania Championships held in Noumea New Caledonia in June 2022 and is the current Western Australian and Australian Champion (Australian Karate Federation) after competing at the Australian Open Championships held in Sydney in April 2022.

Tom travelled to Adelaide for the 2022 Australian Age Swimming Championships during the school holidays (13 -18 May) and came home with 3 bronze medals. He qualified for 6 events at the championships and made the A final (top 10) for 3 of those events.

Tom was also invited to join the WA State Relay Team in the mixed 16/17yrs 4x50m medley for the butterfly leg. They finished in 3rd place.

Year 9

Ben competed at the Australian National Track & Field Championships held at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre in April 2022. He placed 3rd in the 800m (Bronze Medal), and 10th in the 1500m and finished the season ranked number 3 in Australia for the 800m.

Ben qualified to represent Western Australia and compete at the Australian Cross Country National Championships to be held in Adelaide in August 2022 and was invited to the National Target Talent Program (TTP) by Athletics Australia.

 

Year 8

Keira competed at the Australian National Track & Field Championships held at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre, 26 March to 3 April 2022. She placed 10th in the 1500m, and made the semi-finals for the 800m. Keira finished the season ranked number 5 in Australia for the 800m.

Keira qualified to represent Western Australia and compete at the Australian Cross-Country National Championships to be held in Adelaide, 26 – 29 August 2022 and achieved a 3rd place at the SSWA (All Schools) State Cross Country Championships held in May.
