I was privileged to join some of the LJBC Chaplaincy team in attending the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, an event where the community joins with state leaders to pray for Western Australia. We prayed for WA businesses, for those who hold positions of authority and government, and for the youth of WA, that we can lead with integrity and act with wisdom. We heard from WA Governor Chris Dawson and Keynote speaker Graham Maybury.

I was inspired by the story of Graham Maybury, a Baptist minister, who hosted 6PR radio program ‘Nightline’ for 33 years and established Lifeline WA because he understood people’s need for crisis support and counselling services. He encouraged us that we can have a lasting positive impact on those around us. We can be a light in the darkness when we act with genuine care, kindness, empathy, and listen with compassion. We might not have all the answers, but we can listen. And that can make all the difference.
