From little people come big changes
In Kindergarten we have been approaching sustainability, which is part of the EYLF curriculum by starting a worm farm and compost bin. These will be fed using our recess and lunchtime food scraps that would otherwise make their way to landfill.
Did you know that food scraps make up a large proportion of material sent to landfill and cost the economy an estimated $20 billion a year? They also potentially contribute to dangerous chemicals being leached into groundwater whilst decomposing.
So, with our little people we are making big changes to what happens to our food waste! We are using our food scraps for good by feeding our composting worms and creating organic fertiliser for our gardens.
