Emergency Services Cadets
For National Volunteer Week, Cadets had the privilege of hosting the crew of volunteers who man the Incident Control Vehicle (ICV). Cadets were educated on how major incidents are handled ensuring the safety of multiple crews during a major incident. The depth of detail required is immense which includes not only names and numbers but also dietary requirements to ensure members on the coal face are fed and watered and the responders also return home safely.
After an overview, the ICV was put into action with our simulated missing person scenario. Cadets were manning the radios, giving instructions to and coordinating the search parties on what quadrants needed to be searched. Other Cadets were completing the ‘T-Cards’, monitoring who was out on the search and how long they were out for. Yet another group were examining maps of the area giving guidance to what areas should be searched and recording where searches have been completed.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the ICV crew for giving up their valuable time.
Also, a quick reminder that the RSVP cut-off for our afternoon at Treetops Adventure, Yanchep is 9 June.
