This week, our wonderful students from Pre Kindy to Year 6 delivered an extraordinary Christmas Concert. The performance featured every student, highlighting weeks of rehearsals. Attendees, including parents, friends, family, and staff, were treated to a spectacular showcase of singing and dancing performances across all age groups. A big thank you goes out to our dedicated teachers, who always play a crucial role in making these events successful.
Seeing so many families fill our Auditorium to enjoy this special LJBC community event was fantastic. Congratulations to our talented students!

The Lake Joondalup Baptist College Year 3 - 6 Primary Presentations & Awards Assembly was held recently to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our top-performing Primary students. This gathering marked a significant occasion for all our students, providing an opportunity to spotlight their achievements and commend their dedicated efforts. Recognition was given to students acknowledging excellence in Academic, Sports, Cultural, Service, Arts, and Music.

Parents and students were entertained by an early morning Christmas Carols Concert presented by the Primary Choir last week Tuesday. Mrs Bonner conducted with Mr Troaca accompanying gently and the choir sang enthusiastically from their hearts. There were actions and Christmas hats and a beautiful Christmas tree all setting the scene. Well done Primary Choir! What a wonderful way to start the day!

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, the Year 6 students at our school decided to pool their hard-earned money from the recent Market Day and donate their collection of $1500 to The House of Hope Africa as well as purchase a special tree, as a farewell gift to the Primary school. Their collective decision to donate money to a charity and to invest in a tree not only reflects their sense of responsibility towards their community and environment, but also serves as a symbolic gesture of growth and continuity for future generations of students.
This act of generosity showcases the maturity and empathy of these young individuals, leaving a positive and inspiring mark on their school community as they move on to new adventures and the significance of leaving a lasting legacy.

The Year 2.1 String Sponsorship Program culminated in a fabulous concert for parents and friends. The Year 2 violinists and cellists demonstrated their new skills and beamed as they received their special certificates. The students thanked their tutors, Mrs Lim and Mr Brown who taught them violin and cello respectively. Students learnt to follow a conductor and they learnt how to read music notation. The songs they played included some fancy dance moves!
Thank you for the wonderful afternoon’s entertainment Year 2.1!

It’s been a busy term for the Aspire students who have participated in a number of academic competitions and withdrawal programs with great success!
Year 5-6 STEM Challenge – LJ’s Arcade
It was a pleasure to work with 18 budding STEM prodigies on the LJ’s Arcade STEM challenge this term. The challenge, based on the Cain’s Arcade story, asked these young people to plan for, design, and build functional arcade games out of cardboard. These students produced fantastic games including a basketball game, a claw machine, a skee-ball game, and a mini golf course. Well done to these impressive STEM students!
UN Voice
Two of our outstanding young public speakers took to the stage to speak about issues that impact young people. Year 8 student, Marisa, spoke of solutions to help young people feel more of a sense of community and inclusion in Western Australia and Year 9 student, Lily, spoke about solutions to help make mental health facilities more widely accessible to young people. Both students spoke compellingly in this competition and received fantastic feedback from the judges for their problem solving and public speaking skills. We are very impressed by Marisa who was invited to the WA State Grand Final to compete against some of the greatest young public speakers in our state. Congratulations, Marisa and Lily!
Middle School Ethics Olympiad
This term, 15 LJBC students from Years 7-9 competed in the Middle School Ethics Olympiad, a competition where students discuss the ethics behind a range of case studies.
Our teams saw fantastic results this year with the Year 7 team scoring an honorable mention, one of our year 9 teams scoring an honourable mention and 5th place overall, and the other year 9 team scoring an honourable mention and 6th place overall. We are so proud of these wonderful students.

Year 9 Drama Production

On Monday 6 November the Year 9 Drama class participated in a performance incursion where they performed a production of Law & Order: Fairytale Unit in Founders Hall.
The play included lots of recognisable fairytale characters placed in a modern-day court case where the Big Bad Wolf faces trial. In the fairytale criminal justice system, the characters from fairytales and nursery rhymes are represented by two separate yet equally ridiculous groups: the fairytale police who investigate fairytale crime, and the fairytale district attorneys who prosecute the fairytale offenders.
The audience of Year 2s especially liked the slow-motion chase scene and Hansel and Gretel’s trail of sweets.

Year 7 Circus Incursion
Roll up! Roll up! On Tuesday 5 December, the circus came to Founders Hall! Josh from Circus Challenge, otherwise known as ‘the circus man,’ visited our Year 7 Drama students for a specialist incursion. We spent two hours learning circus tricks, including plate spinning, juggling, ‘fire’ twirling, diabolo throwing and balancing. The students had so much fun!

Markus: Certificate II in Community Health and Wellbeing
Meet Markus, a Year 11 Student at Lake Joondalup Baptist College who has successfully completed a Certificate II in Community Health and Wellbeing at the Australian Medical Association WA. The decision to pursue a certificate in Community Health and Wellbeing while navigating the challenges of high school was driven by an innate desire to make a meaningful impact on the community and foster a deeper understanding of health-related issues.
Navigating a dual path of high school academics and vocational studies is no easy feat. It required an exceptional level of determination, time management, and a hunger for knowledge that sets Markus apart. While balancing the demands of Year 11 curriculum, extracurricular activities, and personal commitments, Markus dedicated countless hours to mastering the intricacies of community health and wellbeing.
The program equipped Markus with practical skills and knowledge about promoting mental health, assisting in health support services, and contributing positively to community welfare. The successful completion of this certification is not just a personal victory, it’s a testament of the power of perseverance, ambition, and a genuine desire to effect positive change. With a bright future ahead, this achievement serves as a solid foundation for further studies, career prospects and a chance to make a tangible impact on the community.
